What Am I Here For?!?!?

What am I here for? This is a question that many often ask themselves as they seek to find their purpose. What I have found is that our purpose often lies within the places of our gifts or passions. It is my belief that God has called each and every one of us to complete a specific mission or missions on this earth before our journey here is completed.

One purpose that is common for each of us is our purpose to praise and worship the Lord. Revelations 4:11 (KJV) states: “Thou art worth, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” This verse explains that God created us and everything around us because it made Him happy.

This is further supported in Ephesians 2:7-10 (MSG) which reads: “Now God has us where he wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus. Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish! We don’t play the major role. If we did, we’d probably go around bragging that we’d done the whole thing! No, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and saving. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing.”

God has a purpose and a plan for all of us, just as each part on your physical body was created for a specific function, so do we function within the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12: 12-31). Each of us have a specific calling or ministry that God wishes for us to operate in. For some, this calling or ministry may be directly tied to their earthly jobs, such as doctors who work in the ministry of healing or teachers who may operate in the ministry of deliverance. In fact, EVERYTHING that we do is ministry and we should view it as such. As we seek our purpose and go throughout our daily lives, we should constantly ask ourselves if what we are doing is glorifying unto God. And we must also realize that everyone does not operate in the same gifts. If everyone in the body of Christ had the same job or gift, then the body could not function efficiently or effectively.

Today I encourage you to take comfort in your process as you progress towards your purpose.
